Empty house burns on Maui

Maui firefighters battled a fire at an abandoned house in Sprecklesville for almost four hours late Sunday and early yesterday.

Companies from Pa'ia and Kahului responded to the 11:17 p.m. alarm at the house on Old Stables Road. The fire was under control at 11:41 p.m. but not completely extinguished until 3:20 a.m., fire officials said.

Fire investigators are working to establish a cause and estimate the damages.
