Campbell selling 4 'Ewa retail sites

By Scott Ishikawa

'EWA BEACH — Campbell Estate is in the process of selling the 'Ewa Beach Shopping Center, 'Ewa Beach Professional Center and two area gas stations.

Potential new owners Hawaiian Asset Management and Investment Corp. would take over four properties within blocks of each other: the 77,000-square-foot 'Ewa Beach Shopping Center at 91-919 Fort Weaver Road, the 13,400-square-foot 'Ewa Beach Professional Center across the street at 91-902 Fort Weaver Road, and nearby Chevron and Arco service stations.

The transaction is in escrow and the deal could close as early as next month, confirmed Donna Goth of Fort Street Investment Corp., an affiliate of Campbell Estate.

Campbell Estate officials would not reveal the purchase price.

The 'Ewa Beach Shopping Center, the community's major retail center, has 15 tenants and two more scheduled to move in. The 'Ewa Beach Professional Center has 12 tenants, a mix of medical practices, a credit union, tax filing office and Chinese restaurant.

The Chevron station is next to the 'Ewa Beach Shopping Center, and the Arco site, closed for the past two years, is across the street.

Goth said tenants at both centers, including the parties to move in, had been informed about the purchase.

Campbell Estate did $1.3 million in renovation to the 'Ewa Beach Shopping Center in 2000 and courted Star Markets to take over as anchor tenant after Foodland left for another shopping center.

Hawaiian Asset Management officials could not be reached yesterday, and it is not known whether changes are planned at the centers.

The company also owns Windward City Shopping Center, Dillingham Shopping Plaza and Waipahu Shopping Plaza.
