Bikes, mopeds being auctioned

The Honolulu Police Department will auction unclaimed bicycles and mopeds at 9 a.m. tomorrow in the parking lot at South Hotel and Kealamakai streets, behind police headquarters.

Items may be viewed starting at 8 a.m.

All items will be sold as is, for cash only. No warranties or guarantees will be given, and mopeds are not guaranteed to be running. All sales are final.

Owners who find their lost or stolen bicycle or moped may claim it by presenting proper proof of ownership.


Chinatown work to take months

A city repaving project on Beretania and King streets near 'A'ala Park is expected to last until July 1.

The project, which began March 5, includes removing pavement and installing concrete bus lanes and repaving the streets.

Work will take place 24 hours a day, mostly between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with debris removal from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. At least one lane will be open in each direction. Message boards will advise drivers about lane closures.

Turn lanes will occasionally be restricted because of concrete pours.


Organist to play at St. Andrews

An evening of organ music will be presented at 7:30 p.m. tonight at St. Andrew's Cathedral, Beretania and Queen Emma streets.

The Richard A. Hicks Memorial Performance will feature Yale University organist Martin Jean performing "Seven Choral-Poems on the Last Works of Christ," by Charles Tournemire.

Offerings will be accepted. A reception will follow.


WINDWARD

Help needed clearing marsh

Volunteers are needed to clear alien vegetation at Na Pohaku o Hauwahine in Kawai Nui Marsh from 8:30 am to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow.

The Kawai Nui Heritage Foundation and Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi will be working in the native dry land restoring the ancient archeological site and its surrounding habitat.

Volunteers should bring a pruning tool or cultivator, water and lunch. A brief orientation on the natural and cultural history of Na Pohaku o Hauwahine will be given before the work begins.

Kapolei schools fair tomorrow

The second annual Ka Leo O Kapolei Pa'ina, a fund-raiser for the Kapolei schools, will be held tomorrow from 4 to 10 p.m. at Kapolei High School, 5007 Kapolei Parkway.

The event will feature entertainer Sean Na'auao, a "Broke the Mouth Pineapple Dessert" contest, lei-making contest, and food and game booths.

Admission is free. Hawaiian plate luau tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Contact Georgette Stevens-Begley at Grace Pacific Corp. at 672-3545 for tickets.
