UH volleyball's Theocharidis named AVCA player of week

The American Volleyball Coaches Association today said it had selected its national player of the week: University of Hawai'i volleyball outside hitter Costas Theocharidis.
Theocharidis led the Warriors with 17 kills when they posted a 30-23, 30-23, 30-20 victory over Cal State Northridge in the Matadome Saturday.
The national honor is the first of the year and the third of Theocharidis' career. He earned the honor once as a freshman in 2000 and twice last season.
He was also named Player of the Week by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation earlier this season.
The Warriors returned to Honolulu yesterday and leave Wednesday morning for two important matches against second-place Pepperdine.
After that, the Warriors play their final six regular-season matches at home.
