Q. Why did you choose this look?
A. "It's a look that has come down the line. You see it at different price ranges at Chanel, arden b. and Old Navy. I think it's wearable and can appeal to a wide range of sizes and ages. The baby-doll top is forgiving, while the flared pants are flattering because they balance you out if you have hips."
Q. What features do you love?
A. "The whole look! It's edgy enough but not over-the-top. It's versatile, and you can wear it anywhere."
Q. Where did you first see it?
A. "I think Prada was the first with the gathered-waistband tops. It evolved from an Yves Saint Laurent 2001 look with rich gypsy influences."
Q. Did someone inspire you to seek it out?
A. "Alicia Keyes was my inspiration for the hat. So many celebrities wear flared pants, but perhaps Britney Spears was the first."
Q. Where did you find it?
A. The hat is from Contempo at Pearlridge, the top and belt are from arden b., the pants are Neiman Marcus' "Hippie" brand and the turquoise pendant is my mom's."
Q. Are these your dream items or did you have to compromise?
A. The arden b. top was my dream item. I've been lusting after it for a while. It was a splurge, but I had to have THAT one."
Q. Where would you wear it?
A. "Practically everywhere: to the theatre, school, movies, dinner."
Q. What would be a fashion no-no?
A. "Low-rider pants with a pantie peek. No midriff with belly rolls i that's yucky. I don't care for pendants worn over anything but bare skin. You need to balance the silhouette. A gathered waistband top wouldn't work with wide pants or with leggings."
