Attempted murder charges pendingCharges of second-degree attempted murder are pending against a 20-year-old man who last night allegedly knifed another man in a fight at an 'Ahuimanu home.
The suspect, who is homeless, and the 22-year-old victim were visiting a mutual friend at her home on Ahuimanu Road. They were drinking at about 8:05 p.m., police said, when an argument escalated into a physical confrontation.
The suspect allegedly grabbed a knife and slashed the victim across his left shoulder and armpit; district police said there were also puncture wounds. He ran off, but police responding to the call spotted him on the roadway watching the scene, and arrested him.
The victim was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition, police said. A hospital spokeswoman declined to release further information this morning.
Boy, 12, allegedly sexually assaulted
Police are likely to file charges against a 46-year-old Kailua man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy.
The victim told police the suspect had been assaulting him for several months. Sex-crimes detectives are investigating charges of first-degree sexual assault.
Man accused of robbery
A 41-year-old homeless man who police said shoplifted at the Ma'ili 7-Eleven store and then struck the clerk who tried to stop him was arrested last night on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
At about 7 p.m. last night, police said, the 49-year-old clerk saw the suspect take items and leave without paying. When he went outside to confront the man, the man allegedly struck him on the head with a soda bottle and ran.
Police found the man nearby in an abandoned house.
Man arraigned on abuse charges
A 51-year-old Waimanalo man who allegedly assaulted and threatened his wife Monday night was arraigned in court this morning.
Bail was set at $1,500 for Allan K. Kealoha, who was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening and abuse of a family member.
Police said the trouble at the Hekili'iki Place home began with an argument then escalated to an assault. The suspect also allegedly used a firearm to threaten his 44-year-old wife, who left the home and called police.
Theft victim follows suspect
An 'Aiea man who yesterday saw a thief walk off with property from his garage, followed the getaway van, retrieved his bags and then helped police identify the suspect.
The man, 36, told police he arrived home from work at about 2 p.m. on Ka'amilo Street, took bags from his car and set them between the two cars in the garage.
He was distracted with another task, police said, and upon returning for the bags saw the 39-year-old suspect walking toward a white van parked in the street. The thief ignored the man's orders to stop and drove off, police said
The victim chased after the van, got the bags back and called police, who located the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of third-degree theft.
