Advertiser Staff

Charges of second-degree attempted murder are pending against a 20-year-old man arrested in connection with the knifing of another man in 'Ahuimanu Tuesday night.

The suspect, who is homeless, and the 22-year-old victim were visiting a mutual friend at her home on 'Ahuimanu Road. They were drinking at about 8 p.m., police said, when an argument escalated into a physical confrontation.

The suspect allegedly grabbed a knife and slashed the victim across his left shoulder and armpit, police said. The suspect ran off, but police responding to the call spotted him on the roadway and arrested him.

The victim was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition, police said. A hospital spokeswoman declined to release further information.
