HONOLULU

Free egg hunt set for Kaimuki

A free Easter egg hunt will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Kaimuki Park.

Egg hunters will be divided into four groups based on age, from 1 to 11. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

The Kaimuki Business and Professional Association is the major donor for the city event. The Kaimuki Lions Club and the Kaleolani Volleyball Girls team are providing volunteers.


LEEWARD

Health academy turns 10 today

The Wai'anae Health Academy will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the Health and Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Wai'anae Annex of Leeward Community College.

The academy is a partnership between LCC, Kapi'olani Community College and the Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center. The partnership was created to improve the health of families in the area and give residents an opportunity to enroll in community-based health career training programs.

Since the academy opened, 460 students have graduated. The academy offers 19 nurse assistant programs, nine long-term care/home health classes, three community health worker classes and three medical assistant programs.


WINDWARD

Taro fields need volunteers

The nonprofit Marimed Foundation is seeking volunteers to help restore lo'i, or taro fields, at the new location for its program that helps young people who are considered at risk.

The six-acre agricultural site is in Kahalu'u. The work will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow on 'Aha'olelo Road.

Parking will be provided at the KEY Project on Waihe'e Road and participants will be bused to the site. Lunch and an early dinner will be served by the Castle High School culinary program.

The lo'i will be part of the program to help young people reconnect with their culture and community and gain experience working the land.

Participants are asked to bring picks and shovels, if they have them, and to wear work clothes and sunscreen.

He'eia Stream to get cleanup

The Friends of He'eia State Park seeks volunteers to help clean He'eia Stream from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. tomorrow.

EAST HONOLULU

School to honor grandparents

Honolulu Waldorf School will celebrate its annual Grandparents' Day on campus from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. today at 350 Ulua St. in Niu Valley.

Each guest will be greeted at the gate by a child with a lei and a kiss. Grandparents then will go to their grandchild's classroom, where they will take part in the daily routine at the preschool and elementary school.
