Coast Guard responds to call from boat
Advertiser Staff
The Coast Guard searched last night for a boat that may have been in trouble off Kane'ohe Bay.
Lt. Brendon Ritz said the Coast Guard got a brief radio message from someone who reported their vessel was in trouble yesterday afternoon about 26 miles off Kane'ohe.
The radio transmission included no information about the type of boat or the number of people aboard.
Two C-130 airplanes were launched to search for the boaters, but none was found.
Ritz said that unless the boaters report back that they are no longer in need of assistance, the search will resume this morning.
