Fire damages Big Island home

Firefighters on the Big Island extinguished a fire yesterday near Mountain View that may have been set intentionally.

The blaze caused $25,000 in damage to the single-story house.

When firefighters arrived at 7940 Pikaki St. in Fern Acres at noon, they found fire in the living room and kitchen and in a wall at the back of the house. Behind the house they found burned rubbish that smelled like gas.

The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes.
