Anime to live action
A samurai-and-sorcery feature, "Ninja Scroll," has been acquired by Threshold Entertainment from the leading Japanese anime studio Madhouse, and be will developed into a $60 million effects-laden, live-action movie based on the 1994 animated hit. Threshold is the producer of the $4 billion "Mortal Kombat" martial arts feature film franchise.
Created by award-winning action director Kawajiri Yoshiaki, "Ninja Scroll" arguably is the yardstick by which all other martial arts sword-fighting action anime is measured. Set in feudal Japan, the epic tracks the adventures of Jubei, a ninja mercenary, who is thrust into the middle of a war when the population of a small village is wiped out by a mysterious plague.
