Ogilvy & Mather acquires ad agency

Ogilvy & Mather Hawaii is acquiring Myers Advertising effective April 1 and has offered positions to Myers' president Jean Myers and all 10 of her staff members.

Myers will move into Ogilvy & Mather's Bishop Street offices. The companies' combined billings will be worth more than $23 million.

Myers Advertising clients include Panasonic Co., Star Markets, Victoria Ward Centers, the Hawaii State Farm Fair, Hawaii National Bank, Kuakini Health System, Haseko Homes, Jiffy Lube, Lahaina Cannery Mall, Kahala Mandarin Oriental, McKinley Car Wash and California Rice Marketing.

Ogilvy & Mather Hawaii represents Hawaiian Electric Company, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Hilo Hattie, Blockbuster Video, Marc Resorts, Bulgari, M. Dyer & Sons, Outrigger Entertainment, Dollar Rent A Car, Arcadia Retirement Residence, Battleship Missouri Memorial, Paradise Cruise, Pacific Expositions and the state Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism.

Myers will join Ogilvy & Mather's Emi Anamizu as a managing director. Anamizu also will hold the title of CEO.

The companies did not disclose terms of the acquisition.
