Nu'uanu reservoir opens for catfish fishing May 4

Advertiser Staff

The Department of Land and Natural Resources will reopen Nu'uanu reservoir No. 4 for catfish fishing starting May 4.

Anglers need valid state of Hawai'i freshwater game fishing licenses and entry fishing cards. Applications for entry fishing cards can be picked up at DLNR's visitor center/permit counter at 1151 Punchbowl St., Room 130, and from various licensing agents on O'ahu. Applications will be available tomorrow through April 19.

A drawing will be held to assign each cardholder a fishing date and time. Fishing will continue on consecutive weekends until all anglers with assigned fishing times have been accommodated.

Each fishing day will be divided into four-hour fishing periods: a morning session from 7 to 11 a.m. and an afternoon session from noon to 4 p.m.

Anglers will be required to show valid freshwater fishing licenses while fishing. Those ages 8 or younger are not required to be licensed, but must be accompanied by a licensed, supervising adult. All cardholders age 15 or younger must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

For more information, call DLNR's Division of Aquatic Resources on O'ahu at 587-0100.
