State cross country champion Christal Cuadra of Maryknoll has signed an agreement for a full scholarship with San Diego State.

Cuadra will run distance events on the track as well as cross country.

Colorado State, Colorado, Arizona and Cal State-Fullerton were among other colleges that courted her.

She finished second in last year's state 3,000-meter championship in 10:47.88.

Cuadra runs for Pac-Five in regular-season meets.

Several other college commitments were announced this week by Doris Sullivan, student services director for Hawai'i Sports Network:

• Iolani girls swimming breaststroker Carly Omizo to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. Omizo was second by 1/100th of a second in this year's state meet in 1:06.20. She also made an official visit to Pepperdine.

• Iolani girls volleyball player Blair Nonaka chose Rochester (N.Y.) after an official visit to Butler and visiting St. Mary's of California.

• Iolani boys basketball player Joe Udell to Brandeis (Mass.), an NCAA Division III school that does not give athletic scholarships but gave Udell a "substantial merit scholarship," Sullivan said.

• Kamehameha boys basketball player Sean Uyehara to Whitworth (Wash.)

• Kealakehe football player Matthew Gaughen, a 6-2, 305-pound All-Big Island offensive lineman, to Menlo (Calif.),
