Wai'anae, 'Aiea baseball co-champs

David Awana pitched a four-hitter as Wai'anae defeated 'Aiea, 3-0, in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association regular-season baseball finale yesterday.

Awana struck out four and walked one as the Seariders clinched a tie for the Western Division title with 'Na Ali'i. Both teams finished 8-1.

By winning yesterday, Wai'anae earned the West's top seed in next week's OIA playoffs.

Matthew Inouye batted 2-for-3 with three RBIs as Mid-Pacific defeated Iolani, 9-6, last night in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu Tournament game at Aloha Stadium.

Troy Hanzawa had two hits and two RBIs and Blake Kaneshiro had two hits and scored three runs for the Owls, who remained unbeaten in the double-elimination tournament.

Kala Kaaihue hit a pair of two-run homers and an RBI double for Iolani, which will play Kamehameha tonight at Ala Wai field in a loser-out game. First pitch is 6 o'clock.
