Take your licks with new golf ball

Attention golfers: Here's your chance to smack around a new golf ball for free.

Strata Golf will be offering its newest ball, the Strata Tour Straight, for free demonstrations throughout the country tomorrow.

The new ball will be available at 10 sites throughout Hawai'i.

The Strata Tour Straight, which will go on sale nationwide Monday, is the first of its kind to be coated with a slick Teflon surface, according to the manufacturer. The Teflon surface is designed to reduce the side spin that the average golfer produces at impact, which often leads to a slice or a hook.

The company claims the new ball will produce more accurate and straighter shots.

The participating sites are: Hawai'i Kai Golf Course; Pro-Am Golf Shop; Mid-Pacific Country Club; Sandlewood Golf Course; Kona Country Club; Po'ipu Bay Resort; Makaha Valley Country Club; and Pearl Country Club.
