Airline adding seats to Hawai'i

Continental Airlines will add capacity on one of its two daily nonstop flights between Houston and Honolulu by introducing a new Boeing 777 starting Oct. 27, the airline announced yesterday.

The airplane will carry 48 more passengers per flight than the Boeing 767-400 it replaces, Continental officials said. Continental now flies two 235-seat Boeing 767-400s on the Houston-Honolulu route.

Ron Wright, managing director of Continental-Hawai'i, said demand for the Houston-Honolulu service continues to be strong. "By changing one of the flights to a Boeing 777, we'll be able to meet the growing demand for travel to Hawai'i during the fall and winter months."

The Houston-based airline also operates daily flights to Hawai'i from Newark, N.J., and Los Angeles, and flies to Guam and the Marshall Islands from Honolulu.

Queen's awards contract to ACS

The Queen's Medical Center has contracted with ACS, the Dallas-based company that ran the state's controversial van camera operation, to take over a portion of Queen's information service.

ACS, which provides technology support to businesses, already had a contract with Queen's that included managing its computer network. Under the terms of the new

$28 million contract, ACS will develop and implement new clinical and financial applications for Queen's.

Queen's said in a filing with the state that all affected employees will be offered jobs with ACS beginning May 16.
