Tonight's Must-See

"American Bandstand's 50th ... A Celebration," 7 p.m., ABC. It was back in 1952 that "Bandstand" premiered on a TV network in Philadelphia. Four years later, the 26-year-old Dick Clark took over. A year after that "Bandstand" was on ABC and changing the world. Teens raced home after school to watch. Stars were made; trends were created. Now Clark offers a cascade of nostalgia. He flashes clips of hundreds of performers and brings back some of the people who danced there as teenagers. There are also some fresh performances, including those by Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Alanis Morissette, Cher, Babyface, KISS, A Taste of Honey, The Village People and K.C. & The Sunshine Band. Actor Dennis Quaid performs with his group and an all-star band backs Little Richard.

"Dark Angel," 7:30 p.m., FOX. One of Hollywood's great talents finally returns. James Cameron hasn't directed anything since 1997's "Titanic." Now he directs the second-season finale of this first-rate series, which he produces. Jessica Alba plays Max, who escaped from the people who genetically engineered her. It's all complicated, so settle back and enjoy.
