Advertiser Staff

The top-ranked and unbeaten Brigham Young University-Hawai'i women's tennis team dropped just one match en route to rolling over Sonoma State, 5-1 yesterday in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II West Regional at Lai'e.

The Seasiders (24-0) will face No. 10 Hawai'i Pacific University today on the BYUH campus for the chance to advance to the national tournament in Kansas City, Mo., next week.

Adrienn Hegedus, Petra Gaspar, Tagifano Taosoga, Tomo-ko Sukegawa and Amy Sun all posted singles victories for the Seasiders.

BYUH swept the three doubles matches to open the match.

In another women's match, UC San Diego rolled to a 5-0 win over Hawai'i-Hilo.

The BYUH men, meanwhile, were forced to postpone their match with UC-Davis until today when rain forced the match to be halted after the doubles. The Seasiders will resume the match this morning at 9.

The Seasiders captured two of the three doubles matches, with the teams of Andrew Makarevich and Daouda Ndiaye and Jan Krejci and Peter Madarassy earning the wins.

In another men's match yesterday, UC San Diego beat Hawai'i-Hilo, 5-0.
