The event, sponsored by the Kalihi-Palama Culture & Arts Society Inc., will feature middle- and high-school students from about 20 public and private schools on O'ahu and Moloka'i competing in kane, wahine and hui'ia (combined) categories.
The purpose of the event is "to provide the students with an opportunity to learn about the Hawaiian dance and the Hawaiian culture, and to be able to compete among their peers," said Jan Itagaki, KPC&A executive director.
Tickets are $6. Coolers and tents are not allowed. Call 521-6905 for details.
