SUSAN MERRILL, former assistant vice president of Kapi'olani Medical Centers, has returned to Hawai'i as Kaiser Permanente Hawai'i's hospital administrator. She was most recently administrator of The Women's Hospital, Centennial Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn; and, before that, vice president, Woman's Hospital, Baton Rouge, La. Merrill oversaw various departments at both Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children, and Kapi'olani Medical Center at Pali Momi, from 1989 to 1995; and was an employee at Straub Clinic and Hospital before that.

JAMES S. ANDRASICK has been promoted to executive vice president of Alexander & Baldwin Inc., retaining current responsibilities as chief financial officer and treasurer for A&B. Andrasick is former president and chief financial officer of C. Brewer & Co. Ltd. and joined A&B in June 2000.

• Following Robert Miyasato's decision to step down as president of Finance Realty Ltd. and Finance Investment Ltd., the board of directors has given that title to chief operating officer HOWARD MURAI, now president and chief operating officer of both companies. Miyasato becomes executive vice president of Finance Realty, focusing on special projects. Murai was most recently senior vice president and chief operating officer of the two companies.

LINDA TOMEI has joined Booklines Hawai'i in the newly created position of art director in the product development department. Tomei will be responsible for designing and coordinating artwork for all new products, packaging, visual displays and sales material.ÊAlso joining the firm is Bruce Robinson, accounting and inventory control systems programmer; and Doug Fawcett, Aloha Music International music division, consultant.

VINCENT SHIGEKUNI has been named a principal in the planning and landscape architectural firm PBR Hawai'i. He is a 21-year veteran of campus and land use planning and environmental assessments, and is past president of the American Planning Association, Hawai'i chapter.

GERARD T.K.Y. LEE has been promoted from vice president to senior vice president and director of information services for Hawai'i National Bank, responsible for management of information technology. He replaces Gerald Mulherin, who has retired. Also promoted was RITCHIE KOYANAGI, to vice president, and Windward and East O'ahu regional manager, as well as continuing to serve as manager of the bank's Makiki branch; LESLIE Y.H. CHANG, promoted to vice president; continuing to serve as Dillingham branch manager, and central regional manager, overseeing the Dillingham, Kalihi and Bishop Street branches; and ROBIN KANESHIRO, promoted to Bishop Street branch manager, continuing to serve as Internet banking coordinator for the bank. Joining Hawai'i National is former City Bank employee, MICHAEL Y.J. LAU, as manager of HNB's Kalihi branch.

• First Hawaiian Bank has announced officer promotions: ROBERT J. HEBERER, to vice president and manager, Managed Assets Department; SHERYL J. URABE, to assistant vice president, Consumer Service Center; JANEL N.O. YAMAMOTO, to assistant vice president and corporate compliance officer, Corporate Compliance Division. New officers are PHILIP K. UEHISA, assistant vice president, trust operations, and LINDA F. MIYASHIRO, to trust officer, personal trust.

• Bank of Hawai'i has announced the appointment of new senior vice presidents: TODD NOHARA, also metro O'ahu regional sales manager, overseeing the bank's main branch, and Chinatown, Waiakamilo and Windward district branches; Stephanie L. Saito, also commercial deposit management center manager, working with middle market companies; EILEEN A. SAKAI, also commercial banking service and support manager, overseeing selected client account servicing functions, within the Commercial Banking Group; LESTER STIEFEL, also human resources relationship management manager, working with bank business management teams for customized human resources support; CINDY L. THOMAS, also Strategic Marketing Group manager, with a focus on information-driven marketing programs, including direct marketing and market research; and KELLY K. WALSH, also corporate compliance manager, responsible for administering the bank's corporate compliance and community development program, and also serving as the bank's privacy officer and bank secrecy act officer.

Bank of Hawai'i has also announced the promotion of five vice presidents to senior vice president positions: DARREL HOKE, also management reporting manager, overseeing management accounting; LEA M. KAGAWA, also tax manager; ROBERT MAKAHILAHILA, also self-service banking channel manager, overseeing electronic banking and automated teller machine services; JON E. MURAKAMI, also East O'ahu regional sales manager of 14 branches; and gordon nihei, also Pearlridge Commercial Banking Center manager, overseeing the West O'ahu regional corporate client relationship officers.

• City Bank has announced promotions and a hire: CECILIA VILLAFUERTE, longtime International Savings and Loan loan officer, and former member of the city planning commission, has been promoted to business relationship manager at the bank's Kapalama branch; KAY TANNAHILL, to business relationship manager, McCully Branch; and ARLENE KAMAKANA, to operations manager for Hawai'i for City Bank parent company, CB Bancshares Inc. subsidiary, Datatronix Financial Services. EDDY NG has been hired as business relationship officer at the bank's main branch. Ng is also chairman of the Hawai'i Business Junior Chamber of Commerce.
