Business theft suspects held

Three men were arrested on suspicion of attempted theft Monday after they appeared at a Campbell Industrial Park business to collect building materials that the business said had been ordered fraudulently.

The case began in April when a male caller placed an order for construction products with Honsador Lumber Corp., 91-151 Malakole St. He represented himself as an authorized buyer for someone with an account there. The caller gave an order number that later proved to be fictitious, police said.

Someone collected that order at the Honsador will-call desk, police said. An employee later noted a discrepancy in the order, police said, and after checking with the account holder learned that no authorized order was placed.

The three men who arrived at the lumber yard Monday to pick up another order were arrested and released Monday night pending further investigation.

Man arrested in sexual assault

A Kapolei man, 37, was arrested and then released yesterday while detectives determine whether to charge him with the sexually assault of his stepdaughter's friend.

The 17-year-old girl told police the assault occurred Dec. 31.

HPD asked to assist in probe

Military police called in Honolulu police detectives to assist with the investigation of a boy who is accused of breaking into his father's home at Kane'ohe Marine Base Hawai'i.

The break-in occurred April 15 at a Campion Drive address, and the 37-year-old victim told MPs that cash and other items were taken.

Military investigators identified the son as the suspect and asked for police help with the burglary case. The boy was arrested but released last night while the investigation continues.
