Drinks are on Willis after DJ stint at Turtle Bay

THE PARTY LINE: During down time, actor Bruce Willis — here for filming of his "Hostile Rescue" drama — ambled over to the Turtle Bay Resort, where he wound up in the booth playing DJ. Had such a great time, he bought the house a round. ...

Glenn and Tammy Medeiros (he's the singer, she's a nail stylist) played hosts to a first-birthday party luncheon for daughter Lyric Leolani Medeiros Sunday at Seafood Village Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki. Mom and daughter wore matching outfits; ditto, dad and son Chord. In a reflection of the toddler's hapa heritage, comedian Frank DeLima provided toasts in three tongues: Chinese, Japanese and Portuguese. OK, the Chinese and Japanese were legit, but the Portuguese one (he yelled "Hi-ho," the crowd shouted back, "Silva"), was a gag. ...

Compadres at Ward Centre was abuzz with Cinco de Mayo magic last weekend. On Saturday night, Matt "Makana" Swalinkavich performed in the restaurant, then DJ Rocky Dunmire reigned at the Sunday party across the way (in the old Pacific Cafe site). Among the celebrants: "Mame" cast member Gene Allen, photographer Laurie Breeden Callies, Hawai'i Theatre board member Bobby Carpenter, and developer John Michael White and wife Dee-Ann. The Cinco spinoffs continue through tonight's Fundango benefit for Kapi'olani Children's Miracle Network. ...

Morton's G.M. Greg Omotoy opened the Ala Moana Center steakhouse earlier than usual recently for Gov. Ben Cayetano and his staff (a party of 120) for a private Secretary's Day lunch celebration. Morton's, of course, is usually a dinner-only establishment. ...

WHEE, THE PEOPLE: When Ho'okena performs May 17 in the next Hana Hou concert at the Hawai'i Theatre, the guest act will be the Forbidden World of Don Tiki, the exotica ensemble led by Perry Coma (aka Kit Ebersbach), which plans a tribute to Augie Colon and the late Arthur Lyman. ...

A throng of local power players converged at Sergio's recently, the new Italian restaurant at the Hilton Hawaiian Village's Rainbow Bazaar. Among them: KHON-2 news anchor Joe Moore and wife Teresa, real-estate honchos Mark Bartton and Kim Scoggins, T-shirt queen Jojo Watumull, contractor Bill Frank, Honolulu Symphony board member Garrett Saikley (who entertained Cecilia Blackfield and friends) and interior designer Elise Yates. ...

Manoa Valley Theatre will be host of a pre-opening benefit performance of "Wit" for the American Cancer Society on Tuesday (for tickets, call ACS at 595-7544). Now MVT is going one better by donating $5 from every regular-price ticket sold for opening week's Thursday and Friday night performances (May 16-17) to ACS. ...

TRADE WINDS: Ron Jacobs' "KHJ: Inside Boss Radio," an anecdotal history of his era as program director of the legendary Los Angeles station (which ultimately guided and influenced Top 40 radio as we all know it today), has stirred positive early raves from the likes of Don Imus, an industry veteran and RJ fan for years who has been giving it a thumb's up on his MSNBC simulcasts. And modern radio instructors have given the book an academic seal of approval: Purdue University has added it to the communications curriculum. Yep, Jacobs still lives in Hawai'i. ...
