Kalani gets new boys basketball coach

Reid Sagawa has been named head boys basketball coach at Kalani High, according to athletic director Gordon Miyashiro.

Sagawa, 31, is assistant athletic director and has taught physical education at Kalani the past four years.

He replaces Mark Pacarro, who coached Kalani six years, including the 1998-99 team that finished second to Kalaheo in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association. Pacarro, a Hawaiian history teacher at Kalani, is returning to the University of Hawai'i for advanced studies.

Sagawa has been head coach of Iolani's girls varsity II team the past three years.
