University of Hawai'i athletes Molly O'Bryan and Predrag Savovic were named the 2002 Jack Bonham Award winners by the university yesterday at its annual scholar-athlete breakfast.
O'Bryan, a fifth-year senior on the women's sailing team, helped the team to two Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Yachting Association Women's titles and the program's first national championship last season. She has also been named an all-American twice.
A double major in political science and sociology, she will graduate this spring.
Savovic was the driving force behind the men's basketball team and its Western Athletic Conference championship and ensuing NCAA Tournament berth. The three-time all-WAC selection became the program's fourth all-American this season.
Savovic will graduate this spring with degrees in international business and finance.
The Bonham Award, given annually to the top male and female senior athletes at UH, is named for the late assistant athletic director who was killed in a 1974 plane crash in American Samoa.
