Hawai'i softball splits pair with Tulsa

Kate Judd hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Stacie Hirano in the bottom of the seventh inning as Hawai'i rallied for a 5-4 victory in the second game of a Western Athletic Conference softball doubleheader last night at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
The Rainbow Wahine entered the seventh trailing, 4-1.
Hawai'i (34-24, 14-8) had three hits in the inning and benefitted from an error.
Melissa Coogan got the win, pitching a six-hitter with one walk and four strikeouts.
The Rainbow Wahine had eight hits and Tulsa committed three errors, which allowed three of the five runs to be unearned.
Tulsa (47-15, 14-8) won the first game, 7-0, behind Jenny Magill's six-hitter. She walked none and struck out five.
BASEBALL
Hilo camp: The University of Hawai'i at Hilo Summer Baseball School will be held from June 10-14 at the UHH Baseball Field.
The camp has two sessions, with ages 7-9 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and ages 10-12 from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Tuition for the five-day camp is $85 and includes a camp t-shirt and evaluation report card.

SWIMMING
Masters Championships: The United States Masters Swimming National Short Course Championships with over 1,200 participants will be held May 14-18 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
The four-day event will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and culminate with an ocean swim race at Waikiki Beach on the last day.

ULTIMATE FIGHTING
Penn wins: Lightweight contender BJ Penn (5-1-0) of Hilo defeated previously unbeaten Paul Creighton (5-1-0) of Manhattan, N.Y., with a second-round TKO in an Ultimate Fighting Championships under ard match yesterday at Bossier City, La.
It was Penn's first fight since losing to Jens Pulver in January.
