THE LEFT LANE
Stones stopover?

The bad news: The Rolling Stones' 40th anniversary tour, kicking off

Sept. 5 in Boston and continuing through Feb. 1 in Denver, does not include Hawai'i. The good news: Mick Jagger and the gang plan to tour New Zealand.

So just maybe, Honolulu might get a midway-stop booking. Tom Moffatt, who staged the Stones in January 1998 at Aloha Stadium, said he has been asking about a pause in paradise. "We're looking into it," he said of a possible booking. So far, no word.

But Moffatt said the organizers of the current tour are the same ones who did the last Stones blitz, which gathered no moss but a lot of moolah. To date, the "official" itinerary, on Web sites, don't include New Zealand. Stay tuned.

Winds of change

Ola Souza takes over the morning drive, starting today on KHUI-FM (99.5 The Breeze), Hawai'i's newest radio station.

The station, which went on the air April 12, initially programmed traditional and contemporary island music without commercials. Now the station (formerly KORL), is putting a personality stamp to its music.

Souza previously was with KCCN-AM and FM but most recently served as communications director for SHOPO and worked as a legislative aide at the State Capitol. Kimo Villarimo will do the midday broadcasts, with Mahlon Moore, the station's programming director, doing afternoon drive. Skylark Rossetti, also known as The Honolulu Skylark, has been tapped as the station's "voice." Original station jingles were composed by Audy Kimura.
