Kamehameha teams top seeds in tourneys

Kamehameha has been awarded the No. 1 seed in this week's girls state basketball tournament and boys state baseball tournament.

The Warrior girls, who won the Interscholastic League of Honolulu title, earn a first-round bye along with No. 2 seed Kalaheo, No. 3 Konawaena and No. 4 Baldwin. All are league champions.

The tournament — sponsored by Hawaiian Airlines — runs tomorrow through Friday, with all games at Stan Sheriff Center.

The Warrior boys, who also won the ILH championship, receive a free pass through the first round along with No. 2 seed Kailua, No. 3 Baldwin and No. 4 Hilo. All are league champions.

The tournament — sponsored by the Wally Yonamine Foundation — runs Wednesday through Saturday, with all games at Les Murakami Stadium.
