TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"The West Wing," 8 p.m., NBC. With two episodes left this season, relationships get tangled. In one, C.J. (Allison Janney) gets new respect for the Secret Service man (Mark Harmon) who's in charge of protecting her. In the other, Josh (Bradley Whitford) argues with his lover (Mary-Louise Parker), who's an outspoken feminist and activist. Meanwhile, the president argues about whether terrorism should be an exception to diplomatic immunity. And Donna is sent to a meeting on the less-weighty matter of changing North Dakota's name.

"National Geographic: Inca Mummies: Secrets of a Lost Empire," 9 p.m., PBS. In Peru, old splendor and new poverty collide. On an excavation site viewers catch hints of the Inca's empire. In recent years, however, a community called Tupac Amaru has settled atop it. More than 1,200 families live there. Now Geographic has financed a mission to move as many artifacts as possible. This hour alternates between grand visions of the old empire and so-so ones of the modern dig.

OF NOTE

"Gilmore Girls," 5 p.m., WB. Lorelei is reluctant to graduate alongside students who aren't much older than her daughter.

"Ed," 7 p.m., NBC. The season finale has the Stuckeyville Fair approaching.

"The Bernie Mac Show," 8 p.m., FOX. This terrific show ends its season with an hour that sends Bernie and family back to Chicago for a funeral. There, Don Cheadle plays an annoying cousin.
