Probationer nabbed with stolen car after tip-off

Advertiser Staff

There are criminal masterminds, and then there's this guy.

Police said yesterday that a 44-year-old man who had an appointment with his probation officer on Monday showed up in a stolen car.

Police received a tip that the man would be driving the stolen car to the meeting at the probation office in the Kamamalu Building on Richards and Merchant streets.

About 3:20 p.m., the car was seen pulling into the parking lot of the downtown post office.

Officers checked and, sure enough, the car was stolen.

The driver was arrested.
