UH hires firm in athletic director search

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i has hired the executive search firm of Eastman & Beaudine Inc. to aid in its process of selecting a new athletic director.

The Dallas-based firm will receive 25 percent of the new AD's first year salary, according to the school. That would be approximately $45,000 if UH pays its new hire the national Division IA average of $180,000.

An 18-member committee chaired by David McClain, dean of the College of Business Administration, has been charged with presenting three to five names to the Manoa chancellor by July 1. Current athletic director Hugh Yoshida has announced plans to retire before his contract ends in December.

Eastman & Beaudine claims to have asisted in the search for athletic directors at 14 schools.
