Lawyer, hotelier and entrepreneur J. W. Ellsworth has resigned as president and chief executive of Honolulu travel-industry software developer Viata Software Inc.
Ellsworth, who last year helped Viata secure startup money from local and Silicon Valley angel investors, will stay on Viata's advisory board, the company said yesterday in a press release.
A search is under way for Ellsworth's successor, Viata chairman Michael J. Coy said.
Ellsworth said he wants to focus on his family businesses, which include the Ramada Inn Union Square Hotel in San Francisco.
Viata makes reservations management software for travel companies. Clients include Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, Hawaiian VIP Tours, Hawaiian Vacations and Creative Holidays.
