• PAUL BREWBAKER, chief economist for Bank of Hawaii since 1995, and bank spokesman STAFFORD KIGUCHI are among six Bankoh employees promoted to senior vice president.

Brewbaker, who joined Bank of Hawaii in 1985 as an associate economist, is responsible for research on financial and economic risk for the corporation.

Kiguchi, bank corporate communications manager, oversees internal and external corporate communications. He was formerly with BHP Hawai'i.

The other newly promoted senior vice presidents at Bank of Hawaii:

• DEAN SHIGEMURA, treasury/investments officer, a former vice president and financial analyst for The Shidler Group, now will oversee bank interest rate risk, asses/liability management, capital and balance sheet planning and forecasting, and corporation financial analysis.

• MARY WEISMAN, credit training and risk manager, will direct the bank's corporatewide efforts in planning, designing and implementing credit training programs.

• PAUL YAMASHITA, treasury/ investments officer, who has been with Bank of Hawaii since 1995, is a former audit manager for Ernst and Young LLP and a Union Bank of California audit officer.

• KIERAN A. YAP, trust administration manager, overseeing Pacific Century Trust Operations and tax departments, with responsibility for client accounting, securities processing, trust systems, tax reporting, compliance and planning activities for Financial Services Group clients.

• CHI CHENG SHEN, former general manager of the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in Taipei, Taiwan, has been named general manager of the Holiday Inn Waikiki, on Ala Moana fronting the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

• Licensed attorney SAM K. YEE has been promoted by Finance Enterprises Ltd., the holding/parent company of the Finance Factors family of companies, to senior vice president and general counsel. He will oversee the legal aspects of Finance Enterprises' businesses and assist with strategic planning. Yee will continue as Finance Factors' Community Reinvestment Act officer. Before joining the company, Yee headed a local law firm, specializing in business litigation.

• DARRELL YAMAGATA, business banking officer at American Savings Bank, has been promoted from assistant vice president to vice president. His responsibilities will include providing loans and banking services to small to medium-size Hawai'i businesses. The former Bank of Hawaii business banking officer and credit analyst is also a certified public accountant.

• NALANI MATSUO, manager of administrative services for Tesoro Hawaii, has been named president of the board of directors for the local children's care resources and referral agency People Attentive to Children. Other officers include vice president LEONA SETO-MOOK, who is a consultant; secretary SHERRI AOYAMA, who is a senior vice president at American Savings Bank's employee and technology department; and treasurer NATALIE KIEHM, who is director of land development at Castle & Coke Homes Hawai'i.

• DONALD H. AMANO, who holds business and law degrees from the University of Hawai'i, has been named assistant vice president claims/legal counsel for the property and casualty insurance carrier Island Insurance Companies. He will be responsible for claims handling for Island Insurance and its affiliates and subsidiaries. The 20-year veteran of law practice is former president/secretary of Amano, Pinao and Kobayashi, and was formerly with the Hawai'i County prosecuting attorney's office and on Circuit Judge Shunichi Kimura's staff.

• DAVID SILVER, formerly human resources director of Raffles L'Ermitage Beverly Hills and the Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco, has been named to the same position at the TURTLE BAY RESORT, formerly Turtle Bay Hilton Golf and Tennis Resort, as the Kahuku oceanfront property undergoes a $35 million renovation.
