Simon wins half-marathon

Retired Marine Farley Simon won the Windward Half-Marathon through Kailua yesterday.

Simon, who won the Marine Corps Marathon last December, completed the 13.1-mile course in 1 hour, 16 minutes, 15 seconds.

The race was from Enchanted Lake Elementary School to Old Mokapu Road and back.

Clint Iizuka-Sheeley was second in 1:19:13 and Randy Taniguchi third in 1:21:45.

Jenna Yancey was the first female finisher in 1:27:56, followed by Shelley Grisbrook (1:29:26) and Heather Ardoin (1:33:29).

Pete Boksanski (17 minutes, 9 seconds) and Nicole Woitovitch (20:52) won open titles in the 5-kilometer run.
