Thousands of fifth- and sixth-grade students from across O'ahu enjoyed various demonstrations by the Honolulu Police Department and other agencies yesterday in the ninth annual DARE Day at Aloha Stadium.

The demonstrations included drills from HPD's solo bike detail and its canine unit, and a parachute jump from members of the U.S. Army Golden Knights team.

The event culminated 17 weeks of Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) taught by police and military officers to students who pledged to live drug- and alcohol-free.

The theme of DARE Day was "Dreams Come True If You Believe."

DARE is a joint project of the Honolulu Police Department, Hawai'i State Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Defense.
