Driver's license office closed
The Wai'anae Driver's Licensing Office will be closed starting May 29 because of a faulty air-conditioning system. The office is scheduled to reopen June 10.
Until then, Wai'anae license applicants can go to Kapolei Hale between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Sixth Pre-Plus school planned
Waimanalo Elementary & Intermediate School will become the sixth location for a public-private preschool in the state's Pre-Plus program. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. today at the campus.
The Honolulu Community Action Program's Headstart will be the private provider for the Pre-Plus preschool when it opens in August.
The Legislature provided $5 million to build 26 Pre-Plus preschool facilities on public school sites over two years. The first 13 schools are expected to be operating by December, and the next 13 should open in 2003.
Pre-Plus will accept 3- and 4-year-olds from low-income families to help prepare them for kindergarten. Although families of all income levels can apply to the Pre-Plus schools, preference will be given to children whose families are at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Index, which is $18,100 for a family of four.
Career advice on construction
A panel of speakers from the construction industry will provide free information, tips and answer questions on how to pursue a career in this field at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Kahuku Public & School Library, 56-490 Kamehameha Highway, on the school campus.
"Build a Career in Construction @ your library" is a one-hour information session that includes speakers from the University of Hawai'i- Manoa College of Engineering; Hawai'i Masons & Plasterers Union; and the Operating Engineers Local 3 AFL-CIO.
