Bankoh adds division

Bank of Hawaii has created a new division of 65 employees throughout the state who will be trained to deal with issues facing small businesses.

The bank hired a couple of new employees for its small business banking division and moved the rest from other areas of the bank. They will be specially trained to help deal with issues faced by small businesses, ranging from investments to trusts to insurance, said Kathy Fujihara-Chong, Bank of Hawaii's executive vice president.

The new division is part of the bank's effort to focus on its home market of Hawai'i, bank officials said.


Radio company buys KJPN-AM

Radio broadcast company Salem Communications Corp. announced yesterday that it has entered into an agreement with International Communications Corp. to purchase KJPN-AM in Honolulu for $650,000.

Salem Communications, headquartered in Camarillo, Calif., focuses on religious- and family-themes programming. The company owns or operates 83 radio stations.
