School picks up pace for picking AD

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i is picking up the pace on its search for a new athletic director, announcing it will begin screening of candidates on June 7.

Later dates in June had originally been proposed.

"We're interested in moving aggressively on this," said David McClain, who chairs the 18-member search committee.

A description of the position was advertised for the first time yesterday on the school's Web site , listing specifications and notifying potential candidates to directly contact UH's designated search firm in Dallas.

McClain said the committee expects to receive a list of 12-15 candidates from the search firm by June 7.

The committee is charged with forwarding the names of three to five finalists to interim chancellor Deane Neubauer by July 1. Neubauer will interview the finalists before recommending a successor for Hugh Yoshida, who is scheduled to retire in December.
