Musashimaru suffers first loss, but still leads tournament

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Fiamalu Penitani remained a victory away from claiming sumo's Natsu Basho after losing to Chiyotaikai today in Tokyo.

The Wai'anae High School graduate who wrestles as yokozuna Musashimaru is 12-1 with two bouts remaining in the tournament.

Before his match today, three wrestlers who were tied for second with Chiyotaikai (10-3) lost their matches.

Dejima, Musoyama and Tochiazuma dropped to 9-4, leaving just Chiyotaikai between Musashimaru and the basho title.

Chiyotakai wasted no time today in easily pushing Musashimaru out of the ring.

Musashimaru meets Tochiazuma tomorrow.

After withdrawing with a left wrist injury during the first tournament of the year in January, Musashimaru came back to win the Spring tournament in March.
