TV reporter and author Cedric Yamanaka has been named press secretary to Gov. Ben Cayetano.
Yamanaka, who will join the governor's staff June 17, replaces Kim Murakawa. Murakawa, a former journalist, is leaving the administration to attend law school in Washington, D.C.
Yamanaka has been with KITV for 13 years and spent most of those years covering the judicial system. He also is an award-winning writer and recently published a book of short stories.
Cayetano and Yamanaka are graduates of Farrington High School. Yamanaka also attended the University of Hawai'i and earned a master's degree in English from Boston University.
