MUSASHIMARU: Wins title with one day left
Yokozuna Musashimaru won his 11th Emperor's Cup today, forcing out Tochiazuma on the next to last day of the 15-day Natsu Basho in Tokyo.

Musashimaru (Wai'anae's Fiamalu Penitani), the only yokozuna in the tournament, improved to 13-1 with one bout remaining.

The grand champion's closest challengers, Chiyotaikai and Hokutoriki, both won their matches to improve their records to 11-3.

But it didn't matter as Musashimaru easily overpowered Tochiazuma to tie former yokozuna Akebono (Waimanalo's Chad Rowan) with 11 titles. Musashi-maru, who won the March tournament, also captured back-to-back titles in 1999.

He has won two tournaments this year after withdrawing from the January opener with a left wrist injury.
