MISO soccer playoffs today at Waipi'o

The Men's Island Soccer Organization playoffs will be held today at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Park.

The schedule:

  • Noon, Force vs. Vaiete on field 1 for third place in Division I.
  • 2 p.m., Undefeated Brotherhood vs. Hurricanes on field 2 for Division II championship.
  • 4 p.m., No. 1-seeded Lanikai Tuesday vs. HPU White in the stadium for the Division I championship.

Select teams will be announced after the championship game.

Lanikai Tuesday defeated Vaiete 4-3 in the sixth-round of penalty kicks to win its semifinal game. HPU defeated Force 1-0 with a rebound goal six minutes into sudden-death overtime.

The Hurricanes defeated Manoa 2-1 and Brotherhood rolled over Amazon 4-1 in Division II. Brotherhood lost its leading scorer for the championship to a red card.

The semifinals of the inaugural MISO Open Robledo Cup will be held at Ala Wai Field. Force will play the Bulls Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Latin Hawai'i and Brotherhood will meet on June 2 at 7:30. The championship game will be played June 7 at 7 p.m. at Ala Wai, according to MISO spokesman Sergio Bolioli.

TENNIS

Sectional deadline: Tomorrow is the entry deadline for the U.S. Tennis Association Hawai'i Pacific Section Junior Sectional Championships. The tournament will be June 8-12 at Kapalua Village and Tennis Garden, and Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch.

Boys and girls ages 10-18 are eligible. Fee is $30 per player.
