Police seek gun in Kuli'ou'ou case
Two Honolulu men were arrested yesterday in connection with a shooting and an auto-theft case in Kuli'ou'ou, but police were unable to locate any victims or the gun that was used.
Neighbors told police they heard gunshots at 3:50 a.m. near a Haleloa Place home. Officers responding to the call found spent 9 mm casings on the ground near the home and saw a 1996 four-door silver car that fled the area.
Police said officers found it parked and the two suspects, 31 and 21, walking away from it further down Haleloa.
The car had stolen license plates and its ID number indicated it also was stolen, police said.
The registered owner gave permission for a vehicle search, police said, but the gun wasn't found there or outside the house where the shots were heard. The investigation did not turn up anyone with injuries.
Traffic accident victim identified
The city medical examiner's office has identified the victim in Tuesday night's fatal traffic accident as Jasmine Pai, 15, of Kane'ohe.
She was a passenger in a car that was passing cars in the Kane'ohe-bound lanes of Kalaniana'ole Highway, a half-mile past Keolu Drive, by driving on the median.
The accident happened at about 9:40 p.m. when the driver lost control and the car, a gray Honda Accord, slid into oncoming traffic.
The driver, a 22-year-old Waimanalo man, was listed in guarded condition yesterday at The Queen's Medical Center.
Man being sought in 'Aiea robbery
Police are seeking help in identifying a man in his 20s who robbed a 30-year-old woman April 22 in the parking lot of Anna Miller's restaurant in 'Aiea.
The man, described as about 5 feet, 4 inches tall, allegedly pointed a handgun at the woman and her boyfriend at 10 p.m. as she was about to enter her parked car at 98-115 Kaonohi St.
The man allegedly took the woman's car, which was found the next day in a parking lot at 1936 S. King St., but several of her personal belongings had been taken from it, police said.
The man also is described as weighing 140 pounds with an average build, a tan complexion, brown eyes, and brown hair in a crewcut style. He was wearing a black T-shirt and colored shorts.

Husband, wife stop burglar cold
KAILUA, Kona, Hawai'i A Kona woman used a rolling pin to knock a burglar to the ground Monday night. Her husband then held the dazed intruder until police arrived.
The suspect, Ben Aiona-Aka, 36, was charged with burglary, assault and attempted assault and was being held yesterday afternoon in the Kona police cellblock awaiting a court appearance.
Police said the couple returned to their Kona Onenalu condominium at 9:15 p.m. to discover a man burglarizing their unit.
The suspect allegedly attacked the husband, who punched the burglar in the face several times. The woman then smacked him over the head with a rolling pin.
The suspect was treated at the scene for a facial cut.
Police did not release the names of the Kona couple.
California man pulled from ocean
KIHEI, Maui County lifeguards pulled an unconscious 78-year-old California man from the ocean off Kihei yesterday afternoon.
The visitor, who has a history of heart problems, was snorkeling at one of the Kama'ole beach parks when he was spotted floating in the water around 2:15 p.m., a fire official said. He was transported by ambulance to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where a report on his condition was not immediately available.
