Software firm hires president

Honolulu-based travel software firm Get2Hawaii yesterday announced it has hired David Klinger as president.

Klinger has nearly 20 years of executive experience in a variety of high-tech industries, including software, consulting, and telecom.

Klinger has previously been with Darwin Partners, SmartSignal, and Cambridge Technology Partners. Prior to Cambridge, Klinger held executive positions at Bell Laboratories and AT&T.


UH launches new program

The University of Hawai'i's Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship & E-Business is launching a new program this summer called "START-UP: The Hawaii Entrepreneurs Bootcamp" aimed at preparing prospective entrepreneurs for the challenges of venture creation and translating ideas into viable businesses.

The bootcamp will be held six Saturdays beginning June 15 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, at the University of Hawai'i, East-West Center. The cost is $500 per delegate.


Insurance firm ruled insolvent

Hawai'i Insurance Commissioner Wayne Metcalf said yesterday that a state court has ruled that HIH America Insurance Co. of Hawaii Inc. is insolvent.

All claims are being transferred to Hawaii Insurance Guaranty Association. People with questions about HIH can call the company at 532-1473, or the insurance division at 586-2790. Questions about claims are being handled by Hawaii Insurance Guaranty at 528-1222.
