Waikiki slaying suspect held

Advertiser Staff

Police have made an arrest in the case of a 38-year-old woman who was found stabbed to death in a rented room on Ala Wai Boulevard yesterday.

The body was discovered by friends, who went to check on her early yesterday at 2509 Ala Wai Blvd., after she failed to meet them the night before, police said.

The friends called police shortly after 5 a.m. The woman, the victim of numerous stab wounds, was dead when officers arrived.

Homicide Lt. Bill Kato said evidence led patrol officers to a 39-year-old man in the same building. They arrested him and were holding him in custody while detectives continue the investigation.

Kato said the suspect and the victim appear to be Honolulu residents, but the woman's identity had not been verified.
