No. 1 Kamehameha stops Punahou, 21-9

Kahe Santos rushed for 225 yards on 38 carries, including a 2-yard touchdown run, and Kawai Akina passed for two scores and 189 yards as Kamehameha defeated Punahou, 21-9, at the Kunuiakea Athletic Complex on the Kamehameha campus yesterday.

Kamehameha, ranked No. 1 in The Honolulu Advertiser's Top 10, is 6-0. Punahou is 2-4.

Kamehameha, the ILH first-half champs, plays St. Louis (5-1) on Saturday for the second-half title. The Warriors earn the overall title and a state berth with a victory.

• NO. 6 BALDWIN 14, KING KEKAULIKE 7: Baldwin scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns and rallied past host King Kekaulike Friday to take over first place in the Maui Interscholastic League's second round.

Baldwin quarterback Michael Donahoo threw for 270 yards and TD passes of 30 yards to Jared Mochizuki and 19 yards to JJ Eno.

Baldwin, the first-half champion, is 3-0 in the second half and 7-0 overall in the MIL. King Kekaulike is 3-1 and 5-3.

The Bears can win the second half and overall title with a victory over Maui on Saturday. The MIL champion hosts the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's third-place team in the first round of the state playoffs on Nov. 22.

Waimea (6-0), the KIF champion, hosts the OIA runner-up in the first round of the state playoffs on Nov. 22 at Vidinha Stadium.
