Rainbows picked to finish second in WAC

The University of Hawai'i's Carl English was chosen as the preseason player of the year and the Rainbows were picked to finish second in the Western Athletic Conference by a vote of the coaches, the conference office announced today.Tulsa, which has finished second to the Rainbows in the conference tournament the last two seasons, was predicted to win the conference. The Golden Hurricane drew seven of the 10 first-place votes of the coaches. UH received two and Frsno State one.
English, a junior who averaged 15.5 points a game last season, was also picked to the all-WAC first team, the only Rainbow chosen to either the first or second teams.
Tulsa placed two on the first team and on on the second.
