Teen killed in car crash on Kaua'iA 17-year-old boy was killed last night on Kaua'i when he apparently lost control of his car on Kainahola Road in Kapa'a.
Kaua'i police said the car skidded off the roadway at 8:45 p.m., went down down an embankment and ended up in a reservoir. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said speed may have been a factor.
Man hit while trying to cross H-1
A 29-year-old man was lying on the ground when he was struck last night by a sport utility vehicle on the H-1 Freeway, three-tenths of a mile west of the Gulick Avenue overpass. The man was taken to The Queen's Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition with a possible fractured skull, police said.
Witnesses saw the man trying to cross the freeway but it is unknown what caused him to fall before he was struck by a 2000 Dodge Durango at 7:20 p.m. in the center lane of the roadway, police said.
Police closed the freeway and detoured cars to the Middle Street off-ramp for more than two hours.
82-year-old critical after two-car crash
An 82-year-old man injured in a two-car collision yesterday on Jarrett White Road was in critical condition today at The Queen's Medical Center. The 8:26 a.m. collision in Moanalua involved a car, in which the man was a front-seat passenger, hitting another car turning left onto Mahiole Street. No other injuries were reported.
