Arraignment set for attack suspectA 22-year-old Mo'ili'ili man charged with attacking a woman on Ke'eaumoku Street last Friday will be arraigned Nov. 21 in Circuit Court for first-degree robbery and kidnapping. Clifton Williams is being held on $50,000 bail.
The victim, 43, who testified at Williams' preliminary hearing yesterday, suffered severe hand injuries when she was cut with a sharp object while struggling to hang on to her handbag.
Man accused of Palolo burglary
Police yesterday arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion that he forced a 71-year-old woman to lie down on the floor while he burglarized her Palolo home on Sept. 19. The man was arrested for first-degree burglary and kidnapping before being released pending further investigation.
Man charged in East O'ahu burglary
Police responding to an activated home security alarm in Lower Wai'alae Iki yesterday arrested a fugitive hiding in the bushes outside a Wa'a Street home that had been burglarized.
Lynn Waterhouse, 40, was charged last night with first-degree burglary and is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. When he was arrested at 2:40 p.m., Waterhouse was allegedly in possession of property missing from the house, police said.
Waterhouse is also being held on two outstanding court warrants totalling $80,000 for burglary and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
In addition, police are seeking to charge him with first-degree burglary and second-degree robbery in connection with an Oct. 19 case in Manoa.
Lt. Kurt Nakamura, head of East Honolulu patrol district burglary investigations, said police are working toward reducing the larceny-theft rate.
According to recently released 2001 crime figures, Hawai'i ranks second in the nation in larceny-theft. Active repeat offenders are elusive and difficult to locate, which makes arrests difficult, Nakamura said.
