Waipahu's Lee rallies for 72 at 'Q' School

Waipahu's Regan Lee rallied from a poor second round to shoot an even-par 72 yesterday in the third round of the PGA Tour Qualifying School's Second Stage.

The tournament ends today at the Black Horse Course in Seaside, Calif. Lee is tied for 50th at 224. The low 21 scores and ties advance to the final stage. Louisville's Rob Bradley is in first place at 209.


MORE GOLF

• Umemura, Lovett out: Hawai'i's Anna Umemura and Summerset Lovett failed to make the cut after the third round of yesterday's Futures Golf Tour Qualifying Tournament.

Umemura, who opened with a 73, closed with an 88 for a 242 total. Lovett had an 85 yesterday, for 243. The cutoff came at 237. Lisette Lee of Louisiana leads going into the final round, at 218.


FUND RAISING

• Fund for Jackson established: Concerned fans of Nate Jackson, the former University of Hawai'i football player who is in the hospital awaiting heart surgery resulting from a viral infection, can donate to "Friends of Nate Jackson," at any First Hawaiian Bank branch. The fund has been created to help Jackson and his family with medical expenses.


BOWLING

• Western Division rolls: Western Division schools swept the O'ahu Interscholastic Association team bowling championships, as the Mililani boys and Pearl City girls took team titles Tuesday at Schofield Bowl.

Mililani beat Kailua, 2-1, and Pearl City beat Kapolei, 2-0.

In boy's semifinal action, Mililani beat Moanalua, 2-1, and Kailua beat Pearl City, 2-1, to reach the finals. On the girl's side, Pearl City beat Moanalua, 2-0 and Kapolei beat Kalani 2-0.


VOLLEYBALL

• ILH boys title match set: The Interscholastic League of Honolulu boys' volleyball championship between Kamehameha and Iolani will be held 11 a.m. tomorrow at Mid-Pacific Institute gym, the league announced yesterday.

The winner will get the league's seeded berth in next week's state tournament, while the loser will get the unseeded berth. A playoff became necessary when the Warriors defeated the Raiders on Wednesday night in a second-round match.


CROSS COUNTRY

• ILH meet changed: Tomorrow's Interscholastic League of Honolulu cross championships has been moved to The Kamehameha Schools campus, the league announced yesterday.

The meet, originally slated at Central O'ahu Regional Park, will begin at 9 a.m. with intermediate levels, followed by the junior varsity and conclude with the varsity. The girls' varsity race is set for about 10:25 a.m., with the boys to run at about 10:45 a.m.
